A Walk to Remember

Dear Beautiful Dream Walker,

A few years ago, I discovered a labyrinth near my home not quite by mistake at all. It was the most wonderful serendipity that is still swirling around my love story today. My husband took me to a park one day to enjoy a playdate while our children were in school. He said it would give me a place to go whenever I needed to recharge. So, on another day, when I was alone, I decided to go on this date by myself, because I had learned to schedule time to rejuvenate as well as explore. As I do this, my energy is replenished and my creativity ignited.

On my way to the park, I passed by a church and, tuning in, I felt the nudge to stop by when I was returning home. Though being at the park was a delightful time spent in nature, the church felt like what this journey today was all about. I went into the bookstore and, after talking with the woman behind the desk, I learned that there was a labyrinth on the grounds. This piqued my interest, so I explored further.

This was the place I was supposed to visit today! It was magical…a brick road that led into the center, like going into my own heart and then listening for the whispers of God and the gentle invitations of the nature angels that surrounded this place. Rejuvenating for sure.

I made this trip a few more times, before it became clear to me that this was the place to which my young daughter was calling me, not just for me…Together we began a journey to what is now her calling, and I can hear it as well. She is going to experience her First Communion at this church after attending school here for the last two years. I was not raised in a Catholic environment, but I am honoring this path that has taught me a great deal about allowing and letting go. My daughter, on the other hand, has shown me how to trust. We have traveled together on this journey and, many times, we have experienced labyrinths together.
